Gothic

Gothic music is a dark, atmospheric branch of post-punk that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Defined by brooding vocals, haunting guitars, prominent bass lines and dramatic imagery, it ranges from sparse and melancholic to lush and theatrical. Artists such as Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure helped shape a sound and subculture that continues to thrive.
