Country Joe and the Fish
Country Joe and the Fish came out of the San Francisco scene with music that felt loose, electric, and politically awake. Led by Country Joe McDonald, they mixed folk roots with psychedelic rock, pairing catchy, almost playful sounds with sharp, anti-war commentary. Their songs captured the spirit of the late ’60s—restless, questioning, and unwilling to stay quiet—while still feeling grounded in the traditions they came from.
